Walla Walla’s Spring Release weekend is all about the wine right? Well.. yes, but there’s plenty of other things going on for the whole family as well.
InChalk – A special ArtWalk event at 1st & Main in Downtown Walla Walla. The centerpiece of the InChalk experience is an 8’x4’ chalkboard-a blank slate that the audience will help transform into a unique and intriguing work of art. You pick a square on the grid, grab a tray full of colorful chalk, and start drawing. Friday 5pm-7pm.
Farmer’s Market – Saturday is opening day for the Walla Walla Farmer’s Market. Located in a parking lot downtown at 4th & Main, the Farmer’s Market features dozens of booths with everything from fresh pastries and starter plants to t-shirts and handicrafts. There’s live entertainment and of course plenty of locally-grown produce. Runs May through October, every Saturday & Sunday (9am-1pm).
Orchid Open House – You might think Walla Walla's generally dry climate cannot support orchids. But Orchidaceae’s greenhouse at 2022 Wallula Avenue can. Stop by on one of their Spring Open House Weekends to see the peak of bloom season. April 30-May 2 and May 7-9; Friday & Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 10am-3pm.
Fort Walla Walla Museum – If you can’t remember how our forefathers and pioneers survived without refrigeration, indoor plumbing or smart phones, check out the Fort Walla Walla Musem at 755 NE Myra Rd. In addition to the 17-building pioneer settlement and exhibit hills they have a new entrance building and kids’ play fort the young ones are sure to enjoy. On Saturday sign-ups begin for the Summer Kids Camp programs held in June and July. Sunday features a Living History Company performance at 2pm. Open 10am-5pm Fri, Sat, and Sun. Admission $7/adults; $6/seniors (62+) & students; $3/ages 6-12; FREE/under 6 & members. (509) 525-7703
